Sunday in the Park with Trixie!

Meet Sophie, one of Trixie's best friends. She's a Schnoodle! Sophie and Trixie love to wrestle, tumble and bite, and frankly, I love that they do. I also appreciate that the owners don't give me a death stare whenever Trixie takes a chunk of doggie neck into her mouth. Sophie's a tough girl and can handle badass Trixie!
See what I mean about the wrestling? This is Wizard. He's always wrestling with lady dog friends.....and he's always on the bottom. I see your true colors Wizard! Again, I don't get the "you don't know how to raise chil..... I mean puppies" look from Wizard's owners. Yeah for not being totally lame!
And just because I love this action shot....Look at the black abyss that is Trixie's mouth! Also, look how her back leg is over Wizard. This girl is freakin' piggy backing on her friend. Poor Wizard, crushed by the Trix monster!

Tricks Class

My Two Dogs throws classes for doggies every so often. Sometimes, they have trick classes and manners. Aaron signed Trixie up for 2 1 hour classes and no one else showed up....it was a PRIVATE lesson, for $30. What a steal! Trixie learned how to weave, figure 8, spin, bow, crawl, and jump through a hoop. It's hard to show these tricks through photos, but take my word for it....they were damn cute! Westies make everything look cute and easy!

Ok, here's 1 photo...."Trixie, JUMP!"
I actually like that the photo is blurry....I mean, imagine how fast Trixie had to run to get that look?! Pretty freakin' fast if you ask me!

A new lawn...

For the past 2 years, we've had a shitty lawn. I can barely call it a lawn because there were so many bald patches in it. (Oh and this was even PT, pre Trixie) You can see a little bit of our muddy wasteland of a backyard in this photo. The large white roll is rolled up pet quality astro turf....yep, we're going fake!Once Trix knew that we were going to dig everything up, she decided that she wanted to help. Oh puppy, NO! *headdesk* What are you doing?! You're white! The guys from It's Not Grass showed up ON TIME (which is so rare nowadays, I swear) and installed the grass. Trixie was so impatient to try it out, bouncing all over the screen door. It took them a couple of hours, a bunch of leveling sand, and skill, but they know what they're doing, and they didn't leave a mess. They also moved our trees back into place exactly how we wanted. Yeah, Steve!Trixie LOVES her new lawn and I am sure that we will love it more and more as it gets hotter and hotter. I mean, we no longer have to water anything, nor do we have to mow or pull weeds. Bugs don't nest in this grass, I'm not allergic to it, and it stays green year round! What's not to love about that?!

Trixie's favorite Snooze Spot

Trixie's new favorite spot to sleep and catch some zzz's is next to the front door. She's been exhausted lately, spending hours each week playing at the park! Dream on, pup!

Doggie Star

Here's the name list for one of the dressing rooms in my show....Notice anything? Yep, Trixie was in a dressing room. She loved her dressing room mates.

Spring is "a-comin"

Meet Wizard, Trixie's best friend at the dog park. Wizard was at the dog park when Trixie first arrived. She was terrified of him, but very quickly warmed up to him and now they wrestle like it's going to go out of style. He's actually quite the popular dog at the park, known throughout Williamsburg...Since the weather was a balmy 73 today (OMG I love spring) we went out for and hour and met Charlie, the Maltipoo. Trixie also loved him. Who wouldn't with a face like that? Trixie just really enjoys pouncing on Charlie....his fur was FILLED with wood chips today! Poor Charlie's owner!
Trixie also has a new friend named Frank, a mini Schnauzer. Frank is only 2 1/2 months (I think?) but he tumbles like a pro. He spends most of his time with Trixie on his back. She really likes to play rough with him. Frank is a cutie and I hope that Trixie continues to rough house with him.
See what I mean? Frank is always on his back. And this is usually the photo quality I get with Trixie....a huge blur of white dog. She looks like a sea monster!

St. Patrick's Day

Look at that tongue! What a clown, cheesing up the shot like that. She looks so precious in green though, right? Happy St. Patrick's Day from a Scottish lady!

Discipline!

Ugh, we HATE westie barks! For real! They are super shrill and loud. We knew that terriers have loud barks because we'd read about it, but MAN, Trixie has QUITE a voice! We tried clicker training with her to be quiet, but she usually didn't care enough about getting the treat. Trixie LOVED to bark up a storm whenever a dog passed by our house, which is a lot on a sunny day! Eek!

Enter Renee, the dog trainer that we had come over when Trixie was a wee pup. She told us that the best method for dog barking was a citranella collar. Dogs hate the scent of citranella and this particular collar has a spraying mechanism that goes off whenever the dog barks. It also has a microphone in it so that it goes off instantaneously.
She HATES it! I don't love it. It makes me a little sad when it works, but boy does it work! She has stopped barking almost completely, and I can usually get away with just 'threatening' her with it.

Overnight stay

We received some bad news a couple days ago that Aaron's grandmother had passed away, and we had to quickly figure out our plans for getting to the funeral. Trixie was not invited to the funeral, nor would I want to travel with her to CA alone. Thank goodness for Unleash!

We were actually very sad to put her in boarding, not because we were afraid she wouldn't have fun, but that we would miss her. Yes, we're crazy about our dog! Lo and behold, I found one of the kennel workers' blogs and look at these awesome pictures of my little pup!
She's quite the little ferocious monster! Look at those pearly white fangs! (Aaron brushes her teeth!)
Aww, she can also be very loving! She liked kissing Alfie, a rescue dog. Marina, the blogger/worker/dog lover said that Trixie wants a little brother.....ahem, I think they're trying to tell us something.

All in all, Trixie had a great time at the kennel, but was SUPER excited to see me. Not excited enough to piddle though!
