A true Hound-ini!

Trixie spent a LOT of time outside yesterday. She checked out our plants and tried to eat "daddy's" raspberries. I had to send that photo to Aaron and he was concerned that there wouldn't be any berries on the bush when he got home.

But the main reason why she spent so much time outside was because she got into a neighbor's yard! Yes, a real Houdini (houndini). As you can see in the photo, the spot where she got through is not very big, but neither is she. When she gets bigger, she'll only be able to get through with her digging skills. So she was over in the neighbor's yard, twiddling her paws, checking stuff out, etc. I used a liver treat as a lure back to the correct side of the fence. But wouldn't you know....that little turkey would stick her head out, grab the treat, and bolt back to fun land! Eventually I got her back, putting the treat on the floor so I could grab her collar. We now know that she can't be outside in the yard unless on a leash OR she can be in her exercise pen without one.
"What mommy?! I didn't do ANYTHING!"

The Trixie Weight Loss Plan

Aaron here, guest blogger! No, this isn't about Trixie overeating...its about a new diet plan for humans invented by...Trixie! It turns out that she can scarf down a bowl of kibble in about 2 minutes, yet it takes her 3 minutes just to eat a SINGLE BABY CARROT. Or how about half of an apple slice? No, I don't mean a whole apple slice...just a HALF. Takes about 2 minutes. How can it be?

I tried to figure out what was going on, so I ate an apple slice using just my front teeth. No molars...just the choppers up in the front. And guess what, it takes forever to eat a vegetable that way. I guess her teeth just aren't made for eating apples and carrots...even though she does love them and they are good for her.

Anyway, if this starts a new diet fad, please call it the Trixie Diet. Thank you. Now back to your regular blogger Stina.

Nippy=Nappy!

Ms. Trixie has been with us for 9 days now! Aaron and I always make jokes like:

Aaron: I'm so tired! I love you Trixie!
Stina: Okay, I'll call Jane and George (the breeders) now and we'll take her back....

It's always funny because we know that's NEVER going to happen. Anyway, we've learned a lot. Like when she gets super nippy, it means she's tired. Every night she gets SUPER spastic and it starts to get on nerves. I mean, I've been staying home with her everyday and she's STILL spastic about playing at 10PM. So yeah, we finally figured out that she's like a toddler, whining about NOT wanting to go to bed. When we put her down for bed last night, she plopped down and fell asleep within 2 minutes!

Nap time at 10AM

Last night was the first night where I didn't wake Aaron up in the middle of the night. Lately, I've been boosted from my sleep to check on the puppy. I am wondering if it's maternal instincts. Sounds a little silly since she's not a baby, she's a puppy. I woke up once at 5 AM and again at 6:50 which is considerably better than the 3AM and 4AM times. Aaron has been taking her out in the mornings which is SUPER nice for "mommy."

And now that I've been waking up super early (8AM) she's sleeping again at 10AM....WTF, pup! lol

Hanging out with mom

Trixie had a nice "mommy and me" day all today. 12 and a half hours of crate training, playing, and staying inside because it's super rainy! I love the top left photo....her paw is hanging over her plastic bottle like "check out my boo, mom!" She's starting to play fetch with ANY of her toys!

Trixie's toy of choice is...

Is it the red kong bone? It's great for teething and the holes on the ends usually get stuffed with peanut butter. It makes for a delicious AND beneficial toy....
Or
Is it Mr. Raccoon? Mr. Raccoon has a squeaker in his tail and is very limp. He gives the appearance of a dead animal. He also makes a noise like his bones are being crushed with every drop of her mouth!
OR
Is it the spazzy ball? It never bounces the way a ball should! It's also small enough for her to put in her mouth!

The answer?

Drum roll please!!

I give you....PLASTIC BOTTLE!
You can watch her play with it here.

So sleepy...

Trixie took a 2-3 hour nap today. Don't ask me why, I don't know the answer. It was
A-freakin'-dorable though! What was really funny about it was that she had her choice of the crate or her cushy bed and she pushed herself right next to the gate on the floor. She was "crammed" in there the whole time.

I wonder what she dreams about....maybe the delicious shank bone that daddy brought home today. Yep, she ate that marrow like it was going out of style. Just what I wanted, meat juice all over the floor. Then again, she DID have the courtesy to clean up after herself, thanks to her tongue. What a cutie! You can watch her devour the bone here.

Her ears popped up!

I didn't even notice this until our breeder read the blog and saw her photo, but Trixie's ear popped up. Just look at that WESTIE!

We also found out that Ms. Trixie loves her some classical music. No really! Anytime we leave the house, we put it on while she's in the crate and she's out like a candle in 5 minutes or less. It's kind of adorable. She also falls asleep when I play the piano!

What a little "Trixster"

So Ms. Trixie has been pulling our leashes! She's been waking us up at 1 AM AND 3-4 AM to go potty. Thank goodness for breeder George who called and told us that she CAN make it through the whole night without going to the bathroom.....what a little stinker. We still have to wake up at 6:30 though. This is QUITE an adjustment to my life where I didn't start waking up until I had to for ballet class.....I still love her though.

I didn't do it!

Trixie has learned very quickly here that in order to get attention from Aaron when he's working, she's got to piddle on the floor. Or the crate. Just not outside....no, never outside because that's what you're supposed to do. Silly puppy....daddy stayed home from work all yesterday to puppy sit and work, and all he ended up doing was pick up your poop! She is still adorable though. Check out her cuddled up with our couch afghan.
"I didn't do it, I swear!"

Now here's a fun game.....I spy with my little eye.....a WESTIE!

I'm home

The day has finally arrived and Ms. Trixie is now a member of our family! She slept the whole way home for the most part. She didn't get car sick, thank you Jesus! She loves shank bone with peanut butter! Mmm....I mean, ick for humans! Welcome home, little furball!
